    Mt. Vinson

    Highest peak in Antarctica, elevation 16,050 ft., but the cold and the lower barometric pressure of Antarctica make is feel much higher. Summited in January 2006.

  • Elbrus

    Elbrus

    Located in Russia’s Caucus mountain range, Mt. Elbrus is generally considered the highest peak in Europe with an elevation of 18,510 ft. Due to debate over the contours of “Europe”, some consider France’s Mt. Blanc (15,781 ft) to be the highest peak in Europe. Photos from my later Mt. Blanc climb are in the “Other Climbs” section of this website. Summited in June 2004.

    Mt. Everest

    Highest peak in the world at 29,035ft. Summiting on May 24, 2008 was pinnacle of my Seven Summits journey. The trip was especially eventful due to the Olympic Games, held in China. Due to concerns over a Buddhist Sherpa incident, our communications were restricted and the mountain was guarded by snipers to prevent climbers from ascending portions of the mountain at various times.

    Mt. McKinley (“Denali”)

    Mount McKinley or Denali is the highest mountain peak in North America, with a summit elevation of 20,320 feet above sea level. At some 18,000 feet, the base to peak rise is considered the largest of any mountain situated entirely above sea level.

    Carstensz Pyramid

    Puncak Jaya or Carstensz Pyramid is the highest summit of Mount Carstensz in the Sudirman Range of the western central highlands of Papua province, Indonesia. Other summits are East Carstensz Peak, Sumantri and Ngga Pulu.

    Aconcagua

    Aconcagua is the highest mountain in the Americas at 6,960.8 m. It is located in the Andes mountain range, in the province of Mendoza, Argentina, and the Chilean province of Aconcagua.
